The Library

A classic book that served as part theory for the Bauhaus school of thought which Kepes developed after emigrating to America. He went on to set up the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT.

I believe this is the cover of the original release from 1944, also looking great.

Some additional trivia: the book was first released in 1944 and was in print for 60 years. Kepes wrote LoV while teaching with Moholy-Nagy at the New Bauhaus / School of Design in Chicago. The book was very influential in U.S. art education in the 1940’s and early 1950’s.

I think this has been out of print for a while now. Be wary because I have come across very poor scan copies of this book. It’s a tad rare.
