Spring 2021, I bought a shitcoin for $200. It did 3x, so I wanted to take out all of it. Gas fees were $700. For a simple swap on Uni. Gas tracker site stopped counting at 1k gwei. One thousand. Simple send tx was around $200. I know, I know, L2s are here now. Taking a lot of traffic. And NFTs on OS are not clogging the network so much. But I still seldomly wake up at night in sweat and scream "GAS FEEES". I also love Ethereum. But I also have a small amount of hate for it.
