Except it’s onchain. Not tied to my phone number. Not owned by one guy. Inbox is protected by consent. Private and not random followers. And totally portable so I can take my network with me if I ever want to leave

Agree that it's better for the messages to be offchain. With due respect to you and Jesse, I think it's misleading to say XMTP is onchain when it isn't. In web3, IMO, it's especially important not to mislead, even with the best of intentions. That aside, I am a huge fan of XMTP and hope it becomes more widely adopted!

as @jessepollak told me, onchain is just a metaphor for being onchain.. it's not where the messages are stored and thats a great thing for our privacy
