Big shoutouts to @esteez.eth, @dylsteck.eth, and others who helped out with the main events at Farcon! My favorite parts of the weekend were side events that had specific activities and audiences that extended beyond crypto. The Forever Library event (@amelie @debbie), Bracket’s beer pong tournament (@tldr @passafiume.eth @maxp.eth), and yoga & oysters (@loriann) were highlights for me. Maybe it’s because I’m an introvert, and it’s preferable to have something to do while mingling. But I also think it’s valuable for us, as a social network, to expand our own horizons. I met several people at events this weekend who weren’t very active on Farcaster – or hadn’t heard of it at all! – that became more interested in what we’re building here. They wouldn’t have attended a generic crypto-oriented mixer, but an adjacent event served as a warm (re)introduction.

Happy hours can be great for strengthening the URL-IRL pipeline. But I think activities, whether they’re highly coordinated events or impromptu outings, can create even stronger memories. The great thing about Farcon is how decentralized it is – you can choose your own constellation of gatherings. I’m looking forward to next year, and all the events in between now and then.
