I understand the value of curating interesting people, but relying solely on Farcaster reputation isn't ideal. Linking allowances to staking ensures that those who have a vested interest in the project's success are receiving the incentives. This approach promotes commitment and long-term growth.

Not necessarily. I've been pretty vocal that I think some form of staking is fine, but I don't think that removing openrank is a good move. It's clearly improved the Farcaster experience exponentially. 

The site isn't riddled with low effort 'comment for my tips' spam anymore. Or at least not as much as it was in prior seasons.

Tons and tons of bots are trash accounts have power badges. 

This accounts won’t lockup $1000 to tip.

I’m supportive of this tipping update but convinced we need more criteria for $degen tipping in the future.

1️⃣Including lock length & amount is a nobrainer to determine allocations

2️⃣Openrank & powerbadges gave power to large accounts on FC but we need more $Degen alignment

🎩track record of contributions
🎩track record of good tipping
🎩track record of scouting good content across Farcaster (channels)
🎩track record of supporting $degen projects & value-adders

3️⃣Essentially, $degen tippers “should” be hand-picked but positions should be open for anyone to join. Whether we pick 300 tippers manually or have some criteria that one needs to fulfill to qualify automatically is tbd

4️⃣Tippers are not necessarily builders or investors. Since tipping is used for distribution and growth of the $degen economy, we should make sure that good tippers fill this important position in the ecosystem!

I don't like locks either. We definitely need $degen alignment, not just Farcaster alignment & influencers though (> this is openrank). Hoping to further improve the algo, with smaller iterative changes, & maybe we'll end up at delegated allocations from people who have lots of skin in the game for token distribution - which is only 1 small part of the total project.

But DEGEN should be trying to align with Farcaster in every possible way. It's the defacto FC token. And it was said as much as the most recent Farcon.

DEGEN needs Farcaster to thrive. This change doesn't align with encouraging better content on Farcaster which is what it needs most to attract new users.

$Degen benefits from Farcaster doing well and vice versa.

$degen will not do well when money goes mostly to farmers whether they have good intentions & add a little bit of value like you in your /success syndicate or Karbonbased in his /paidgroup or simply try to extract maximum value.

Farcaster needs qDAU - not farmers. Seeing all these posts asking for Degen, getting paid, is a terrible xp on Farcaster. This change will not lead to small farmers coming up again but again to less farmers I hope.

There are way less farmers this season than there were in prior seasons. Last season, anyone with $300 could get an allowance and we had tons of people setting up 10-20 accounts just to get the minimum allowance to send to themselves. 

This change is essentially going to encourage the exact same behavior.

This season there are less farmers and I appreciate it. However, I also saw that the farming went from many people to less people who are well-connected already (aka Farcaster influencers & especially engagement farmers as they mostly see people in their existing circle). We need to invest $degen emissions to builders, creators, apps, marketers who will drive new people into the ecosystem, grow the economy. We don't need to further build the circle jerk. I'm sure you'll enjoy that farming will further go down from here.
