A lot of people seem to think that millenials and gen X are going to inherit a shitload of wealth from baby boomers. 

But, after seeing how expensive memory care is, I have a feeling A LOT of their assets will be transferred to healthcare facilities instead.

Assisted living at night with memory care during the day is going to cost us around $12k/month. It’s insane. I get why it’s expensive but man things can’t be good for people without means. We’re lucky. We can find a way to make this work. A lot of people can’t and Medicaid doesn’t cover anything close to this.

Not just traditional health care. Nursing homes also, even for relatively healthy seniors with no memory issues. My grandma was in a small room at a very basic senior center and didn't need much help and it would have been far cheaper for her to stay in a really nice room at a Waldorf. It's all such a scam.

Apparently, to qualify for Medicaid there is a 5 year look back period so you have to do the trust thing many years before you might actually need it.

Healthcare facilities strip away so many fortunes. That's why putting big assets like real estate in a trust so they can't get to it is so essential
