The easiest way that I’ve found to counter this type of thinking in my own mind is to look at all of the progress we’ve made in the last 15-20 years. - In the last 20 years, over 1 billion people have moved out of extreme poverty. - In 2005, Climate change was a fringe issue that most people didn’t care about. Now, it’s at the top of most people’s mind. (Probably because we can’t ignore it anymore) - Solar panels have gone from being fairly expensive an inefficient to being one of the absolute cheapest sources of power on the planet. Pricing is on an exponential curve downward. - We’re closer to nuclear fusion than we have ever been. On the cusp of essentially limitless, carbon free energy. - Carbon sequestration. With nuclear fusion - we can do carbon sequestration at scale. The only thing stopping it now is it’s not cost effective because the power costs. With nuclear fusion, this will be a moot point.
