Lol for sure, and I think if you looked at it empirically, the top casters are usually the people putting out the best most consistent content in a channel.

Yea, you're right in some cases, but I think the majority of cases, the top casters are usually the people putting out the best content, the most consistently. Not always the best, but more often than not. 

But, I have no idea how it was determined. I know volume of casts did play into it thoough.

I feel like sometimes this is true and sometimes high volume accounts with big follower numbers are able to post the same low effort content and hold their position. It would be interesting to see a top caster list that was rated only by members of the channel. Unless this is already how it is done?

Absolutely. And it used to be the best way to find people to follow in a particular channel. If you have a niche interest, you would follow the top casters of that channel. 

But, it is what it is. We'll see how the quality of feeds change, if at all. Maybe it was just a label that had no extra power behind it? IDK

I came here to say this. Even though I usually sort by Recent the top casters usually have the best quality content.
