Yes! In those days there were hardly any vacuum cleaners, plus people thought it made the carpets look fresh 😃...everyone did it.  And do you know the Soviet love of hanging carpets on the walls ? I used to laugh about it when I still see carpets on the walls in old apartments and when I was cold in Germany I thought it was a good idea to insulate the walls with carpets 😂😂😂

Interesting! I have seen tapestries hung before, but not “wall to wall” 😄
This reminds me of my traditional polish outfit my mom loved dressing me up in for “Fasching”, while other were princesses and Minny Mouse 😄Noone knew who or what I was meant to represent.
