The 茶室 tea house we’ve been building this month is coming along well. @zujapan x Akiya Collective collab ftw! We lifted the main roof beam by hand. Even with two 6+ foot tall young lads it was a struggle properly setting the ~80kg log into place. Since its traditional japanese style construction with wood joinery, theres no screws or nails. Mike precut the log so it fits perfectly in place ontop of the posts. No room for mistakes We stopped at a local lumberyard to get planks for the roofing this morning. It was fun practicing my Japanese with the ojisan owner who is a true OG. Later I belayed Mike while he cut the roof planks to size with a handsaw while standing on the newly built roof. A but sketch but he’s an expert and still has all his fingers.
