What would you say about a protocol that was not permissionless? One you had to apply to build on to keep the quality of data high and within the scope of the intended purpose.

Sometimes I feel like this too. I wonder if there are examples where a permissionless protocol failed because the use cases got too broad and the purpose became lost.

I’m not writing it off. I totally agree a permissionless protocol is powerful for many use cases. I’m trying to get a temp check on the use of permissioned protocols. Not for money, but for integrity of purpose and vision and quality.

Its too early to writeoff protocols imo; while it may struggle to provide monetary flows, the dissecrtion of the data / tooling could be valuable for future iterations.

More data points through open building and radical iteration.
