What metric is more important for a consumer crypto app? DAUs or Volume?

I would say it all depends on the crypto app and the type of retention that you want to have. For example if it's a social app, I would definitely say DAUs is the important KPI to look at but since there is no way to proof what a "user" is (as the same user could have multiple accounts) then maybe interactions.

If we are talking about contributing to a DAO maybe looking at DAUs might not necessarily be the best KPI as people might not be contributing on a daily basis, maybe WAUs or even MAUs make more sense.

If we are talking about a financial app, then the KPI might be completely different. Maybe you shouldn't be looking at DAUs as people are not expected to interact with the protocol at a daily basis maybe monthly or even quarterly makes more sense. Again this runs into the same issue on how you define what a user is.
