What metric is more important for a consumer crypto app? DAUs or Volume?

Depends on your team, but leaning towards DAU. If you optimize DAU it means you have something engaging keeping people around. There are lots of possible ways to make $$$ (tons not yet invented!) Own the audience and you can figure out a way to monetize.

DAU. Volume depends on DAU since it's further down the funnel.

Been thinking about this a lot, I'm leaning towards volume to prove PMF and DAUs at the growth stage but that's a weakly held opinion.

I would say it all depends on the crypto app and the type of retention that you want to have. For example if it's a social app, I would definitely say DAUs is the important KPI to look at but since there is no way to proof what a "user" is (as the same user could have multiple accounts) then maybe interactions.
