Stunning photo. The gaze of a fox is such a strange experience. It does not have that same quality that say a gaze of a cat, dog or any other animal can think of. Do you recall this moment?

Yeah, I remember it perfectly. There’s something really unique about the way a fox looks at you, he was curious but keeping the distance. For a moment, everything felt quiet, like it was just me and the fox in this strange shared space. It’s one of those encounters that stays in your mind, it feels like you’re stepping into their wild world, even if only for a second. I tried to bring that feeling into the photo.

Had some frens? Saw a family of them here in Berlin some summers ago in garden of a repurposed building. Two pups who were very curious popping in and out between the planters. Then we heard a rustling and looked over a fence to find a racoon hanging out. As we were leaving towards the bus pretty sure we saw the mother of the cubs hurrying back to them. Lots of animals in Berlin. @isarus has a similar shot of a fox she shot here in Berlin. Same strange look.

I don't know if they were family or just a group of friends. But there were quite a few of them. The curious thing is that they’re always around. Sometimes you see them, sometimes you don’t, but they’re always hanging around.
