the problem with this is that "paying for my Starbucks" is about as far down the list of consumer pain points as possible existing payment rails are seamless and have massive momentum this makes them worth the fees crypto will get its breakthrough via a use case where there is mass frustration with the UX, not one where we only offer an incremental improvement

my body tenses up when I read tweets like that. it's trying to fit a linear solution to a non-linear system, it just doesn't work well. it's been tried before. people are banging on that door and no-one is answering. it's insanity.

huge lack of creativity we invented new money and 10 years later everyone is still obsessed with "how do we do the same stuff as before" instead of "what net-new things can we do"
