They are pinned casts, for which at pinning time the noderator decided to "notify" followers.

Hopping to get that soon on /anser , the @neynar team needs to add the API.

we'll be including the pinned cast at the top of the feed/channel API instead of the channel object, does that work for you?

I am currently grabbing it from the Channel object, if you change that, it's going to be a breaking change for /anser 
I honestly think it is better in the Channel Object as it does not refresh at the same pace as the feed.
