Just noticed today Bluesky built their own video player instead of using Expo AV (the worst AV library ever). The Kotlin/swift code is actually not that difficult to grok. https://github.com/bluesky-social/bluesky-video/blob/main/android/src/main/java/expo/modules/blueskyvideo/BlueskyVideoView.kt

Haven’t used Expo AV. Why is it the worst? Wonder what the Merkle team has been using on Warpcast. Cc @gt in case you know.

We use `expo-av`. It is not plug and play. But the pure native video player Bluesky exports is pretty mid too. Expo AV performs worse in Android overall but we are okay with it for the time being.
