Founders

General Electric was a founding member of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, founded in 1894, and remained on the index for 122 years until it was delisted on June 26, 2018, the last company to be delisted. In 1921, General Electric absorbed the National Electric Lamp Association (NELA) into its existing lighting equipment business, establishing the current headquarters for its lighting equipment division at Nela Park in East Cleveland, Ohio. By 1935, General Electric was one of the 30 largest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange.
