Peanuts have a GI (glycemic index) score of 14. This is while their GL (glycemic load) is only one. That is why the American Diabetes Association calls peanuts a diabetes superfood. The fiber in peanuts also helps lower blood sugar levels, and because they contain magnesium and other healthy fats, they are more effective than other foods in controlling blood sugar. A study conducted by the Federal University of Vicosa (Brazil) on obese women showed that consuming peanuts or peanut butter first thing in the morning may control their blood sugar levels throughout the day. So to benefit from this property of peanut butter, be sure to include it in your diet.π₯π₯
