On this day in 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto mined the Genesis Block, the very first block of the Bitcoin blockchain, on a small server in Helsinki, Finland. This block included a reward of 50 Bitcoins and the iconic coinbase message: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks".
