So the Aga Khan died today.  I grew up Ismaili, although I’m not really practicing right now.

Was not prepared for my sadness at his passing.  I wouldn’t have guessed it, but my heart feels heavy.   

Growing up, I took it for granted that people like him would exist - philanthropists who sought to eliminate poverty.  I know now he was a special.  His money didn’t corrupt him.  Don’t know if we’ll ever see another like him.

The Aga Khan was a great man who contributed in many places to making the world better. He was unlike many other leaders who merely exploited his people and left a trail of destruction. He will be missed.
