What's the best ultra-simple app for note-taking on your phone? I just want to click the app and start making a note, then organize it.

okay tried experimenting with Obsidian and it seems interesting. I used OneNote on desktop before, so the migration might be smooth. one thing off is that you have to pay $100/yr for syncing between devices. seems a lot, especially given in other apps i had it for free. do you have any x-mas free trials @kepano? :)

Obsidian runs on a folder of local files so you can use any sync solution you want. You can also try Obsidian Sync, refund is automatic if you cancel within 7 days. Obsidian is 100% user-supported. No VC. That's why we don't subsidize. OneNote import: https://help.obsidian.md/import/onenote

Okay so could I theoretically keep this file in a Dropbox folder and sync with mobile?

I believe some people do this on Android? I haven't tried it myself with Dropbox on Android. I know that Dropbox won't work on iOS due to sandboxing/API limitations. However there are other sync solutions that do.
