Decided today that we’re not going to be working on /nook anymore. It was originally meant for us to play around with and learn new tech and has served that purpose. We don’t really see a path forward in continuing to build the client, so we’re going to explore some non-Farcaster ideas instead. More soon!

props for shipping quick and making hard decisions how has building a client affected your opinion of farcaster? did you consider other revenue streams on top of nook (outside of sign ups?) i'm sure a lot of fc builders would benefit a ton from your insights!

Farcaster is a place for side projects right now, not serious companies. Maybe will change in a few years. But I don’t believe we will ever see another client compete with Warpcast, which makes it all the less interesting to me with the lack of client decentralization.

Hmm, I think it depends. :) Your time preference is high, which is understandable, but not everyone has that approach. re: Warpcast competitor — browsers and Ethereum wallets are solid counter examples

I am optimistic here, particularly when it comes to channel-specific channels. But if we want to follow the Ethereum wallet example, wondering how would this market look like if EF built their own wallet on Day 1 and advertised it on ethereum.org like Farcaster does with Warpcast (picrel) :)

We had a version with all the apps and it was confusing for users since no other apps post Flink offered sign up. Good try though. :)

Having 36 wallets to choose from is also more confusing than having one official EF wallet, but they decided to keep them (picrel) :) It doesn't mean that FC should follow this path if your goal is to get to 10M users ASAP. I just don't think the wallet analogy works here; a better one is browsers (IE vs. others)

Also, using the wallet analogy has some consequences. Wallets are very sticky products. Many people use an inferior product just because they tried it first. This is why it's so hard to take away market share from MetaMask. I don't think the intention is to give devs the impression that WC client would be the same :)

Ethereum shipped with a default wallet called Myst. There was no ecosystem wallet page. The biggest wallet was created by an Ethereum co-founder. Coinbase Wallet grew through their own distribution.
