Every media site (WSJ, NYT, Bloomberg etc.) should have some kind of a 0-100 trust score that tells you how many fake reports they made and it should be visible in your browser so you can check their reputation. It's insane the world spends more energy rating Uber drivers than media outlets.

And yes, there are some borderline cases; that's why I'd only count obviously fake reports.

Just riffing but trust and competency would also depend on the individual writer and the topic Sometimes a bad article is simply a matter of being outside the author’s core circle of competence

If there was some way to integrate this kind of information, showing bias as well as relevance and reliability scoring. Maybe a browser extension. Like the idea of it following a Wikipedia-type model to keep it objective. https://adfontesmedia.com/static-mbc/

I guess people just don't care enough :/ And them putting that score on themselves? Ain't gonna happen. An independent third party? Yea that could work, I think. Can't see how this could be monetized, though. Any ideas?

The “job to be done” for media in 2023 is outrage and NYT & WSJ are delivering the product the people want

How would you implement the rating? Trust Pilot style or something more sophisticated?

Stopped caring about news; it's biased and spins facts. My task isn't to dissect news but to elect politicians aligned with my values. Don't need news to know I'm anti-war, for example.
