it's a half joke but i actually believe that 50% of the impostor syndrome comes from people not having a sufficiently organized and detailed mental model of their work

The presence of the syndrome is valid when the comparison element (to other people) is in. At the end of the day, when someone is alone & trying to sleep & doing pillow talk to oneself (;-)) they (we!) actually just have no idea what they (we)'re doing :-)))
