Living in a city where the primary drug people abuse is METH has made me paternalist anew. The Libertarians did good work on me, but actually Drug Laws Are Good and No One On God's Green Earth Needs To Take Meth EVER

Yeah its tough... I'm very anti police and pro legalization of drugs and I think the best way to reduce drug abuse is give everyone housing healthcare and so on, meet everyone's basic needs. But I also understand it's a tricky situation we're in because a lot of people are on these drugs and what so what can we do? I cut my brother out of my life after what it did to him, because I can't deal with being around someone going through that and not able to respect boundaries. It's really sad.

Yeah there are plenty of people who have their basic needs met and still end up abusing drugs. It isn't as simple as that.

Yeah I agree but it would reduce drug abuse on a public health / society level to some extent. People also have a lot of unmet emotional and social needs, there's the issue with medications leading to addiction, lots of other factors.
