my biggest concern with people in tech who spend all day shouting on the internet is that many of them spend very little time talking to the people actually critical to society:

doctors, firefighters, police officers, construction workers, mechanics, farmers, chefs, baristas, mailmen, janitors, retail workers, etc.

In a previous life I worked as an environmental engineer in municipal govt; 

half my time was air permitting and the other half was permitting for building department where I got to talk to all walks of life 

Service jobs are underrated in terms of gaining life experience, and not just that but it explicitly helped me revamp our entire online permitting UX with the help of our software team (they didn’t speak to users either lmao)
