I haven't seen much chatter in here about Zuckerberg's letter admitting that Meta censored for the government. Are folks not talking about it or why don't I see this in my feed or search? Anyway... I'm very curious as to why they decided to open up about it now.

sort of a nothingburger, from brief glance. also to an ambiguous result, since we are judging emergency decisions with ample hindsight. there was a point in time where certain hyperoptimized industries like healthcare were experiencing demand spikes, and the R-naught wasn't under 1, etc. if someone described a natural disaster as a supercritical chain reaction, that would be very compelling in the moment. likewise, this only reinforces perception of left-leaning suppression of speech & general power-entrenching conduct. it's not a surprise, everyone already knows the vibe is off.
