well, it sounds more game-of-thrones by the hour. which is to say, I don't trust any of these participants, given the stakes & their intelligence. again it seems to boil down to ethos/pathos. what I'm sure many would like to know is how this affects the research/product, & why the public is so deliberately in the dark.

more to the point, I view all of these endorsements & prevarications as, worst case, the deliverable of some mutualistic agreements behind the scenes to bend public perception, given the public ambiguity. too many connected people with private interests in the mix. as satya recently "I'll let the lawyers handle this".
