is Grok itself the SOTA? no.
will OpenAI release anything differently? possibly, yes.

whether this is significant as far as capital, more specifically, Microsoft vs other tech megacorps, I think there's sufficient pressure that the SOTA can remain closed-source for years. then again, I'm optimistic that OSM will fill niches anyway.
