imho, I'd push back and say that users don't care about decentralization 99% of the time.

there's plenty of centralized platforms that have unambiguously failed to maintain ToS (or purged some subculture). the irony is that it's more likely the more superfluous the object.

revealed preference is users crumbling to finite context limit & catastrophic forgetting (can confirm anecdotally).

they're not happy, but nobody's complaining enough for it to matter.
