Thereโs a lot to be said about this film from its overarching themes about temptation, curiosity, and discernment to its more grounded take on vampiric folklore based in the reconstruction era of the Black American south. What stood out to me most was wrapping the story in blues leveraging its direct impact from its sound and lyrics to elevate the emotion resonance of the film. Sinners is a snapshot of my history told as Brotherโs Grimm tale to be weary of those who seem well intentioned but arenโt. Folks who too have dealt with the ills of the world and want to change them but are often times misguided and cause far more harm than the good they claim to make. I loved how thematic it can touch upon themes like being a culture vulture, the pillaging of creative works, the corruption of communities within themselves and still make a pretty thrilling horror experience on screen. MBJ is an incredible actor and really comes into his own here alongside Wunmi, Hailee, Delroy and Miles Caton.

that stuck out to me, the twins had this fire in them to manage this big act. preacher boy had this fire in him to inspire the music of the whole crowd and not just the overt monsters, but the little ways in which the universe doused those fires... so that ending was even more cathartic for the defiance in those fires that never fully extinguished. moral lesson I took: don't give in to the garlic haters, gotta appreciate every free flavor of life.
