A Love Supreme by John Coltrane, In 1957, while struggling with addictions, he had a profound conversation with God. Years later, on December 9, 1964, in New Jersey, he recorded the album with McCoy Tyner on piano, Elvin Jones on drums, and Jimmy Garrison on bass Over a single day. This iconic album is often considered a cornerstone of spiritual or mystic jazz, a genre Coltrane pioneered. During the recording, Coltrain deeply meditative state he believed he was channelling God. He described the album as a "humble offering" of gratitude and devotion, expressing his belief that the universe, created through a divine "big sound", held infinite inspiration. ’A Love Supreme’ is more than just music; it is a spiritual door, a journey through Coltrane’s transcendence and faith. Coltrane passed in 1967, leaving a testament to his spiritual preparation to meet the divine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll3CMgiUPuU /music /jazz
