Great article. Concise. It inspires an examination of our trained reflexes and an exploration of native uses for new technologies. This usually means throwing away fears and strongly held beliefs. https://paragraph.xyz/@in-transit/imitation-first-innovation-later

Listened to the ‘Love Supreme’ album in full, then this one was suggested next. I love the choatic, disjunct, out-of-the-box approach, particularly in Ellington’s playing. He gets really dirty in some and cleans up in others. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL-NbN8uTOijEsoYqLkgqDYeAaN1OLGRo&si=JS_Yvi_S4qkF917V

LW Art Challenge VI - Results This month’s pieces are so good! A great variety of mediums and each work shows clear influence from the prompt. Artists were asked to interpret the phrase: ‘Golden handcuffs bind by disguise, but in the uncommon path, fulfillment lies.’ Each artist approached this from a completely unique perspective and style. These works are all worth a closer look and listen. Whether you want meditative, intense, cerebral, silly, etc., you’ll find something that resonates with you in at least one of them. Featured Artists @juliakponsford @dbb1 @ryab @sudutalien @ranggapuraji @sakehqueen @ArtWojak I want to thank all the artists who show up every month to participate in this with me, as well as the new artists jumping in for the first time❤️‍🔥 Subscribe for free and stay tuned for next month where I pass the baton to an artist to come up with the challenge prompt👀 Check out the submissions!🧵⬇️

I really enjoyed the recordings! I also listened to this album that was suggested next. Really nice guitar music by Tidiane Thiam. https://tidianethiam.bandcamp.com/album/siftorde?from=footer-cc-a2841108068

Gm🙂 Found this beautiful abstract take on the #LWArtChallenge. I’ve been loving these continuous generative pieces by Lin the past few months. I particularly like colors, framing, the magnifying blob effect, and the general feel of the movement. The version shown here is a GIF, so be sure to see the full version on the mint page. In the description: “What makes you smile with content? A sense of pride, happiness, or even when you feel cruel? The twists and turns of each corner are always in the deepest part of your subconscious, some of which you release, the rest you bury. Which is the most valuable?” Really fun piece, Lin!

It’s generally true that over time, people only remember you by what you created. Not the jobs you worked, money you made, follower count, etc. The art, music, and products you made are the only things that last long after you’re gone.

Gm💭 I woke up in the middle of the night with self-doubts and intrusive thoughts. "Why do you want to write music? It's selfish, it's childish, and it's a waste of time. Especially the type of music you write. Nobody cares. It's so niche and weird. Why are you like this?" These thoughts have a certain amount of truth, if I'm honest with myself. I've dealt with the same thoughts for over half of my life and I've continued to do the same thing. Definition of insanity, right? Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I can't not do it. I'm compelled. So I guess I'll accept this sickness and lean into it. It's not healthy to think too much. Take it to the keyboard and guitar instead. Channel this energy into music. That's what music is for anyway.
