Just picked this up the other day and listened to it today. Composer, Krzysztof Penderecki, wrote a violin concerto specifically for violinist Isaac Stern. If you’re not familiar with this composer, you’ve likely heard his piece ‘Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima’ used in films like The Shining, The People Under The Stairs, Twin Peaks, and more. ‘Threnody’ is known for its relentless wall of dissonance and atonality. The violin concerto was composed later and returned to a more tonal leaning, but utilized the textural and gestural techniques developed in his more extreme earlier works. The violin is the main focus throughout the entire work, but the orchestra does all these insane impressionistic things to highlight the melody and shift gears. Sometimes it sounds like bells, sometimes a bunch of car horns, constantly making gestures that feel physical like someone swiping a paint brush across a canvas.

Currently writing a very long and verbose post about my recent compositions for this little album release. They act as a major turning point in my perspective as a composer.

Man, the read-aloud feature is really good on the Substack app. You can also choose the voice and change the speed. If you don’t have time to read a post and want to listen to it podcast-style, just hit the play button at the top of the post.

Picked up "Devil's scream" by @lucianaguerraok. I very much identify with the sentiment and execution here. Beautiful, cathartic, funny🔥 "Devil’s Scream is a living painting born from my series Deconstructions, inspired by Bosch’s visual language but reinterpreted with my own signs, palette, and style. In this animation, a demon emerges and screams a raw, visceral act of liberation and rage. The scream symbolizes a release of suppressed energy, a reclaiming of freedom from the chaotic, surreal world it inhabits. This work expands painting into movement, capturing a moment of transformation where anger becomes catharsis, and silence is shattered into expression."

To my friends who listen to vinyl records, do you take a particular approach to the medium? For example, do you listen only to specific types of music on vinyl, or only listen to vinyl during certain activities, or any other deliberate approach? https://media.tenor.com/ISvmOt1UJAIAAAAC/music-addams-family

I'm very excited to share this audiovisual collaboration with @ryab for the #LWArtChallenge and #200tez events. I'll write a little about it in the follow-up Artletter post (link in bio). Visuals by Ryan, music composition by LoneWick. Ryan's visual work is so cool. 'emptiness' https://objkt.com/tokens/KT1MxWmoiTRdMAJbRY1JeZr9QZzJaJndKwyf/0?ref=tz1M3XjhagPoAKnf13jSRPc4KaWher9fjxiD

Cool submission for the challenge! A great title that matches the feel of the piece and clearly gives the impression of influence from the theme of ‘emptiness’.

Yesss! I love this! And the audio source is such a cool idea. Haha. It works really well with the frantic rhythm of the visuals. Also really like the yellow tone. So stoked you participated, littlecakes. One of my favorite artists on the scene❤️‍🔥 Go get one Rodeo!

A great second work for the challenge by @RanggaPurAji. I like the "numb" method of creating the work and the visuals feel l like a dream of something figurative while being fully abstract. Very nice composition🤌 "All were drawn by assembling each shapes and involving certain feedback modulation techniques. I was in the state of 'numb' and let myself code with flows following what i feel that i need to put here and there. It's all started when i remembering my childhood."
