Beam Chain is basically the "zkEthereum" endgame I hoped for and wrote about in 2021, that plus the data layer and zkEVM upgrades. Back then, I had expected something like "about a decade", albeit delivered incrementally. So, anything sooner than early 2030s sounds like a win for Ethereum's Endgame. The one thing I'd like to see is what I called an "Enshrined zkEVM bridge" (a standardized in-protocol bridge for all "Type 0" zkEVM rollups) though maybe that's more suited for the EL, idk

Although Dydx is the “frontrunner” of perp DEX, but in recent months it has almost become the opposite of perp DEX. Dydx's market share has been gradually eroded by several other perp DEX. After two years of change, Dydx is not getting stronger, but rather regressing. From its initial 80% market share, Dydx has been weakened to a mere 6%. In this wave of meme boom, Dydx didn't eat much dividend except for announcing to be Pump, and recently there are news of layoffs and personnel changes, which shows the depth of its decline.

Among decentralized perpetual trading projects, DYdX is the first big brother. Since the project's inception in 2017, DYdX has stood out in terms of both 24-hour trading volume and daily active users by employing an order book model that provides users with a comprehensive range of features, including lending, leveraged trading and perpetual contracts. Early in this cycle, it was certainly the center of market attention. But since the beginning of the year, Dydx's growth has become increasingly overwhelming. Both its protocol revenues and token price are in serious decline and are gradually being caught up by the later Perp DEX. Just like those early VU fans went on to reshape music, early Punk collectors went on to build the foundation of what we now call web3. In both cases, a small pioneering group took something weird and experimental and used it as inspiration to create something entirely new. And just like how you can trace so much of alternative music back to Velvet Underground, you can trace so many web3 projects, communities, and companies back to early Punk holders. Sometimes the most profound cultural shifts start with just a few thousand true believers.
