Being French and just coming back from the UK, I will not say this is entirely false but I will also state that what is always shocking me in the UK is the “big brother is watching you” constantly, everywhere, and all the posters to incentivise people to report on other people: “See it, say it, sorted. “

This is due to a history of terrorism. We had Irish terrorist blowing up London for decades and then Islamic terrorism, same as Paris. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-43878479 One thing that is cultural is that people will quite often step in and tackle terrorists, sometimes losing their lives in the process.
