I’ve spent dozens of hours reading philosophy over the last month or so as a beginner, and the work that so far has stood out to me is “Enchiridion”, derived from Epictetus’ Stoic teachings. It’s very short and practical - now a weekly read for me https://classics.mit.edu/Epictetus/epicench.html

Seneca - advisor to the Roman emperor Epictetus - born a slave Yet both of these men are considered to be important stoic philosophers. If you are willing to dive into ancient Chinese philosophy, I could recommend Sun Tzu’s “Art of War”. It is a book I am coming back to throughout my life.
