Some coded rock studies done with three.js using FBM algo (fractal Brownian motion) 🪨 The main trick is to sample 3D noise (rather than 2D) for ever sphere vertex to calculate displacement. This way we get continuos features along the surface, it can even be animated! (simple gradient of features shown below)
