So the brand Laneige and their lip creams seem to be the exception to the “don’t buy Korean in Japan” rule and this saves you about $5. Not sure if anything larger/heavier would be worth the suitcase room/weight but it goes to show there are always outliers. The exchange rate was better a few weeks ago so this could be a slightly better deal depending on fluctuations.

For most travelers coming from America the prices are on par with Amazon official shops so it’s not worth the time and room in your suitcase when you can buy the same thing at home for cheaper or the same price. Whereas Japanese imports are always more expensive on Amazon because of shipping. Most products are 2-3x what I can buy them for in Japan.

Here’s a good example. This is actually $1 cheaper on Amazon US. So have it shipped to your door and don’t waste the suitcase space. Buy Japanese products instead. Most people assume Korean products will be cheaper in Japan because it’s “closer” but this just isn’t true. If you live in Japan, I’d take a weekend trip to Korea ;)
