picked some ideas I enjoyed from @fredwilson.eth interview at Farcon

1/ social is infra

twitter/tumblr/zynga in 2007 was the first time we made the experiment. It worked, but all came crashing down when platforms pulled back their APIs 

2025 = we run it again with Farcaster, but this time it's unruggable

2/ platforms rug when incentives diverge, not because they’re evil.  Facebook and Twitter nuked their dev ecosystems because economic pressures mis-aligned them with partners

3/ mini-app → full-app pipeline

ship a frame, watch usage, then graduate power users to a full client. cheap experiments > big launches.

5/ protocol monetization for social

twitter could've monetized like a protocol. it didn't. we can now do it with Farcaster

6/ the moment you think you're screwed, you might actually have the crown jewels 

call for courage, like Bryan from Coinbase, using the example of Soundcloud when it was corned by music industry giants

4/ marketing is for lousy products

good product are push not pull, no amount of marketing leads to escaping velocity, that comes later
