Status as a Service is a must read at least once a year if not once a quarter. linking below and encourage everyone to read his more recent musings, as well. https://www.eugenewei.com/blog/2019/2/19/status-as-a-service

The essay mentions Prisma: it was too easy, and the tech was too good. Feels similar to TikTok, where the emphasis is not on any one user, but how the tech can turn mediocre inputs into top tier outputs. Both TikTok and Prisma essentially did this. Indeed, today, vertical videos platforms are full of automated faceless videos which don’t take much work. The best content is still handmade, but is the correlation from work to status still there? These social media platforms have succeeded despite disconnecting work from success. With this link broken, how can social media still be about status?
