My first job I made $37k living in NYC while both my wife and I were still in grad school so we could cut down on student loans.

Worked like a dog. It sucked. 

But we were together so life was good.

my first (proper) job I also made $37k (£30k) living with my parents because no way was I paying rent unless I had to, doing a consulting job i learnt a lot from at first, before the learning dried up doing the same three month delivery cycle for every customer. Made a mistake picking this job (should have taken a slightly riskier option) but I got lucky to get back on a better track and it's serendipity and hard work ever since. luck surface area
