i think I wanna try learning an instrument. Any suggestions? 

I took piano lessons as a kid but stopped before being anywhere near proficient, can’t sight read, barely know scales lol 

- don’t wanna spend more than a few hundred dollars on a beginner-level instrument 
- might eventually take proper lessons but for now just want something fun I can learn to play at home watching tutorials 
- relative portability (ie not needing electricity or annoying to carry) would be nice but not a hard limit

you can get a decent cheapo acoustic or even a lil backpacker guitar

Ukulele seems like it would translate well to guitar if you wanted to pick up a second instrument after a while!
