You are aware of the off chance — however remote — that something totally unplanned can happen.

And so much is changing during previews so the performers are even more present! They probably got a whole bunch of new pages earlier in the afternoon. 

I’m excited to see some NYC theater when I’m back.

Agree. The possibility of it creates an undercurrent of electricity for the audience. 

(It was especially fun to see a Preview, where you are extra attuned to this)
