so many conspiracy theories about the assassination attempt being a hoax the fact that msm outlets are completely burying the story was all I needed to see to know it's legit

Definitely not a hoax. Kinda crazy that the shooter is registered republican though

I'd argue the shooters party registration is completely meaningless and we should stop pointing it out. People who do this shit are just utterly fucked up in the head regardless of their party affiliation and aren't representative of the avg voter/citizen in the slightest.

In general I agree with you, but when right wingers use this incident to tell people that “the left” or “Democrats” want them dead I think it’s extremely important to have this kinda information spread around

The shooter only registered as a Republican to vote for Hailey as a dig against Trump. He also donated to Biden's campaign and Act Blue.

I think what you're doing is called speculation and what you're falling victim to (given your sense of unfounded certainty that you know things no one can know) is called confirmation bias. You are starting with a conclusion and working backwards to confirm it.

bars I find it helpful (not that they seem open to advice) especially for divisive topics to approach it from the viewpoint of "I want to be wrong about this" and see how the "facts" look from that angle

A good friend of mine told me to start listening to everybody I meet as if they know more than I do. It's a tough one but if you keep the practice it's rewarding. A better way to be out in the world too. Learn a lot, less friction with others, gain more understanding/compassion for where people are.
