Elon didn’t start a new social network, he took over Twitter. You don’t need to start a new city, you can take over existing ones by just moving there en masse and voting for your candidates. You don’t even need 44b. This is hard to do, but it’s easier than moving all the intellectual capital out of SF. Network effects are hard to disrupt.

Agree. For cities, we have people trying to start the next FC and I hope they succeed like FC has, but we also need more people trying to take back SF. Free state project for SF! ;)

Founders move to jurisdictions with minimal friction + ease of doing business. Talent doesn’t want to waste time politicking because it takes away from serious work, like changing the world. 🙃

Nothing against people trying to take back SF, but didn’t SF become the city we know today because intellectual capital relocated there due to uneasiness elsewhere?

Relocating takes days or weeks, whereas changing a city's political makeup can take years or even decades.
