Why does a great blockchain-based MMO not exist yet?

my hunch is that "blockchain gaming" is always getting confounded with realmoney economy (which implies p2w) and i don't think anyone's nailed this formula yet. since MMO are some of the biggest/hardest/most-complex game worlds to build, they are among the toughest to do "greatly". personally id rather see lots more non-realmoney-economy in more blockchain games - this will lead to more great blockchain games, and MMO will follow

I believe that if the game is good enough, people will be inclined to actually play for fun -> thus the economy will be more stable -> game is not a race to the bottom

hard disagree, seeing other players p2w makes a game unfun and makes me feel like the only way to win is to spend money, i think p2w (and p2e) is antithetical to fun and reduces every game to shitcoin gambling no matter how good the other mechanics are, i think many players vastly prefer playing a game where nobody else can p2w (or at least p2w is discouraged) but like i said, maybe just a formula nobody has cracked yet
