we really only get two types here, and the other mangos (larger, red-green) taste like trash aka nothing

I feel you. So many different types out there and some of them are just sad. 
I was told that in Thailand you have amazing mangoes, which they do, but I prefer our Osteen mangoes a whole lot more.
