Gm! comic rant of the day: Bernie Wrightson According to Stephen King "the greatest horror illustrator of this century" (referring to 1900/2000). And in fact the two have worked together quite a bit. Wrightson started his career on Creepy Magazine, with quite a massive production that includes various gems, my fav probably his fantastic rendition of "The black cat" by Poe. Later moved to DC's Swamp Thing that was his crowning as a master of comics. Doing both painting and hatching, the latter is his most distinctive skill. while there are many great painters, most of his hatching work remains imho unmatched if not by colossal figures in the art field like Gustave Dorè. If you don't read comics, you are in luck. His masterpiece are the illustrations for the Frankenstein. the one in img1 has held the highest sale in comic art history for a few years with a bid at Heritage, later beaten by an Asterix historical page. further mindfuck: the frankenstein pages are for the most part in A4 format. Enjoy!
