one of the benefits of abandoning mainstream US media years ago, aside from developing immunity to the immense propaganda they vomit up each day, is not having to care that they’re getting worse, because they were never a trusted source

I care because too many people still use mainstream media as their news source. It gets worse every day. The propaganda, the lack of journalistic integrity.

Right. Good point about other people but wouldn’t a better approach be to try to push/pull those people to other sources rather than just wishing media owned by billionaires will be benevolent with respect to freedom of the press? Like I’m not suggesting we should undermine the free press. I think it’s incredibly important. I’m just not sure what the right approach is here. Definitely sharing this kind of thing that shows the lack of credibility is important, but look how little effect the leaks about the NYT’s internal memos about Gaza did.
